Bulgarian language courses for foreigners at the Heritage Languages and Cultures Foundation in Nicosia

For Children
The Bulgarian School "Kiril and Metodiy" in Nicosia offers courses for primary and lower secondary school children (ages 5-12) who do not speak Bulgarian.
Groups are formed by age. A specialised methodology and a new teaching aid, specifically designed for this purpose, are used. Classes are held on Friday, Saturday or Sunday depending on the number of groups formed.
For Studying in Bulgaria
The Heritage Languages and Cultures Foundation organises courses in Bulgarian as a foreign language suitable for:
- students at Cypriot secondary schools intending to study in Bulgaria
- conversational Bulgarian
- preparation for the ECL exam in Bulgarian as a foreign language, recognised by universities in Bulgaria
Young Bulgarians who have not attended a Bulgarian school but intend to continue their education at a Bulgarian university can use the B2 level certificate to prove their language proficiency. Courses are intensive, semi-intensive, evening and weekend. Levels from A1 to C1. Courses are taught by a teacher who graduated in Bulgarian Philology from Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski", with many years of experience teaching Bulgarian as a foreign language at the Department for Foreign Students at the University of Burgas "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov", and a certified ECL examiner in Bulgarian as a foreign language since 2010.

The Heritage Languages and Cultures Foundation is an Examination Centre of the European Consortium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages (ECL-Consortium) and conducts the Bulgarian language exam twice a year. The ECL certificate in Bulgarian as a foreign language is internationally recognised.
