Bulgarian School 'Kiril and Metodiy' - Forms of education and information

The Bulgarian School "Kiril and Metodiy" in Nicosia opened its doors on 24 September 2006. We teach children from age 5 to grade 12 in Bulgarian as a native language and as a second/foreign language, as well as literature, geography and history of Bulgaria.

Education

Education follows adapted curricula and teaching materials for Bulgarian children abroad, approved by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science in accordance with Decree No. 90 of 29 May 2018 (see here for 2020 amendments). The Bulgarian School "Kiril and Metodiy" in Nicosia is included in the List of Bulgarian Schools Abroad for the 2021/2022 school year (number 155), which can be viewed on the Ministry of Education website here (Order No. RD09-1024/29.04.2021).

Certificates

The certificates of completed education issued by the school are recognised in Bulgaria and allow students to enrol in the next grade at Bulgarian schools without sitting equivalence exams.

Choose the form of education suitable for you and your child:

  • In-person education (in a traditional classroom)
  • Distance learning — synchronous (weekly meeting with a teacher in real time via videoconference and access to our e-learning platform with educational resources)
  • Distance learning — asynchronous (access ONLY to our e-learning platform with educational resources; at the end of the year an exam is taken for recognition of the school year and issuance of a certificate)
  • Blended learning (part in-person and part distance)
